no worries but does the same apply for goals - serious question. If a ball hits a keeper is it the keepers goal.? 1st goal in the game looks to have come off Arsenal no.15 - not the listed goal scorer. Hows that work.?
@Barry1981- If the initial shot was on target then it is classed as a goal scored by the player who shot. If the initial shot was off target and subsequently directed into the goal by an opposition player then it is classed as an own goal.
Arsenal were tense and overly conservative for about the first 50-55 minutes, which was understandable given the run of form that we're on, but after we scored our first goal the "Arsenal" which we expect to see turned up. If that is what Ljungberg's has brewing then I'll take every drop he's got. I'm glad that Chambers was good throughout the game after me stating, on numerous occasions!, that he deserves a run of starts at CB. Sokratis was poor with the ball again but he did a fair bit of traditional defending very well. Holding is clearly our best CB and will start when fit but I believe Calum (who was also very good away to Newcastle) has pushed his way ahead of Luiz and Mustafi at the very least and maybe Sokratis too. Man City will be a huge test, I expect to lose and lose comfortably, but getting the new manager a win will hopefully serve as the catalyst for a purple patch during this hectic period.
The ball clearly hits Masuaku as he turned. Irrespective of whether another site has awarded Pépé with an assist, the fact is that it was NOT one. Can we put that to bed now please?
Talksport "The Ivory Coast international then provided the assist for Aubameyang, who was just onside as he hit a crisp volley past David Martin.". Im puzzled with this. whoscored.com stats say 'open play'. did they watch the game ? I've just watched the replay - if thats 'open play', then whats an assist ? Pepe chips the ball onto Aubameyang boot for him to score. Without his chip surely he would not have scored, so its an assist - is it not?
@Barry1981 Did you not read the comment below ? An assist is only credited if the goal scorer receives the pass without any deflections of other players !
Nicolas Pepe was not credited with the assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal because the ball last touched Arthur Masuaku, therefore Masuaku, not Pepe, had the final touch before Aubameyang scored.
Sky - "Arsenal grabbed their third as Pepe's dinked cross from the right found Aubameyang clear ahead of his marker, and the forward did the rest, stooping low to volley past Martin."
everywhere is saying it was an Pepe goal & assist - just whoscored.com who are not.? dodgy stats.?!
ESPN - "Pepe turned provider moments later from a similar position, lofting the ball over the West Ham backline for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to redirect home with his first touch to put Arsenal two goals to the good."
Telegraph "They were soon celebrating again with Aubameyang and Pepe combining as the Arsenal captain back-heeled the ball to his fellow forward who chipped it back across the area. There was Aubameyang to guide a volley past goalkeeper David Martin. It was stunning. And not least for how easily West Ham had folded."
Guardian "Aubameyang backheels a pass down the right, releasing Pepe into a little bit of grass. Pepe checks and chips a delicate cross back towards the striker, who had kept moving. Aubameyang bicycle kicks into the bottom right. Martin got a hand on the shot, but couldn’t keep it out."
Stats are wrong. Pepe made an assist to Aubameyang no doubt. Bet365 Arsenals front three vs West Ham, Gabriel Martinelli goal, Nicolas Pepe goal and assist, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang goal and assist.
Match between epl's two worst teams in terms of defense. Without doubt both of them will allow several goals, but Aubameyang will make the difference here. 2-3 Arsenal win.
Some of these players thought they were too good to play for Emery, now they're finding out how wrong they were. They could at the very least work hard now for the team, instead of always expecting other players to do what's necessary, like getting back to defend.
@What4 Too many Divas in the team. I saw Aubameyang defending like a DM in the last games and still scored 2 against Norwich. Arsenal cannot afford to play with more than 3 attacking players on the field. A formation with Xhaka,Torreira and Guendouzi in midfield could solve the problem. I hope Ljungberg ”dares” to leave Ozil on the bench.
@alxdru That's what I was thinking, it doesn't seem to work when we play all three of Aubameyang, Lacazette and Ozil, and we have Pepe as well, who to be fair has being doing better defensively of late. There is no easy solution to this problem, heh.
Arsenal have recorded a pre-tax loss for the year 2018/19. The main reason being the net transfer balance but other factors include failing to make the CL and a drop in matchday revenue, including a delay to selling season tickets.
The club are hovering in mid-table for the first time in a generation, and everyone goes into nuclear melt-down. But the table below Chelsea in 4th is quite compressed (at time of writing), so we just need to get a string of good results together and we will be back in the mix for top 6, which is not brilliant, but not a disaster either. It could be a while, though, because we have Man City, Chelsea and some other big games coming up, but it's not over yet!
@stefanm the point still stands, outside the top 3, really, the other clubs are pretty inconsistent, so it could just take one good run of results to get into the top 6.

Posts crossed. Everywhere else is saying it was a Pepe assist - even the bookies.
Posts crossed. Everywhere else is still saying it was a Pepe assist - even the bookies.
The Premier League have awarded him the assist.

Pepe - no assist ?

Thank god Özil is back. He really makes the difference ...

I'm so relieved to pull through this relegation 6-pointer. It's a nice ray of sunshine in this gloomy period.
Did Pépé not give an assist to Aubameyang?
Makes for a nice change seeing someone else's half-empty stadium.
Deserved for Pepe for all his unnoticed hard work.
what kind of warm-up is that ? lol
For the people who voted Arsenal win just play this song......Whitesnake - Here We Go Again '87
@SirCharlesRichfield Crap song, and crap reason to play it.
Arsenal is about as stable as my pal Jeffrey Dahmer in his prime.
West ham and btts
red card for West Ham and away win 0-1
1-1 Martin MotM
@Ferguson Who is that ?
@neumi17 ??? Looks like I should have chosen Pepe.
@Ferguson N. Pépé*
3-1 West Ham. Arsenal strings together one quality chance in 90 minutes of play while leaking in three goals like a defensive sieve.
3-3, two teams in terrible form cancelling each other out.
Freddy can not fix this against west ham.
Match between epl's two worst teams in terms of defense. Without doubt both of them will allow several goals, but Aubameyang will make the difference here. 2-3 Arsenal win.
Its now or never, if the Hammers want to win against their London rivals.
@Akil West Ham won the previous matchup.

Good Luck again Freddie. You don't have much to work with, but I hope you make the most of it and give us som entertainment.
Congrats to whoever sprayed "AFTV OUT" near the Emirates. Chapman's should give that person free tea for life.
@SteveHyland But it´s the No.1 Fan Channel on YouTube! xD
@Fromhell- And, honestly, that's more important to them- even though most are season ticket holders.
@SteveHyland Aye, The situation is tense to say the least, and don't need to get worse atm.

@What4 just look at that scheadule, I just caaaant see Arsenal winning in any of their 6-7 next games mate.
@stefanm the point still stands, outside the top 3, really, the other clubs are pretty inconsistent, so it could just take one good run of results to get into the top 6.
Arsenal will try to pick themselves up, but their defense will let them down once again. 2-2
another fail of Arsenal , 1-0 Anderson
