Team News

RBL
Rangers
  • RB Leipzig have a number of suspension issues for their welcome of Rangers with Willi Orban, Mohamed Simakan and Kevin Kampl all ruled out here.
  • Amadou Haidara and Lukas Klostermann will be assessed, the latter after a bout of COVID, and he could be required from the outset.
  • Nordi Mukiele is set to start in defence to deputise for Simakan and Orban, while Tyler Adams may feature in midfield.
  • With both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe absent, Fashion Sakala is expected to lead the attack in Germany.
  • Filip Helander, Ianis Hagi and Nnamdi Ofoborh miss out, while Aaron Ramsey will be assessed.
  • Giovanni van Bronckhorst may go for a 4-3-3 setup in order to frustrate RB Leipzig on Thursday night.

Prediction

  • RB Leipzig's 15-game unbeaten run came to an end over the weekend as they fell to a 2-1 home loss to Union Berlin. They have not been great at home in recent weeks, winning only two of their last seven at the Red Bull Arena.
  • Despite the absence of key forwards, Rangers kept their slim title hopes alive with a 3-1 win at Motherwell. They have won four on the trot ahead of their trip to Germany, though have won just the once away from home in the Europa League. That victory did come in the form of a 4-2 win at Borussia Dortmund, however.
  • With RB Leipzig missing key defenders, Rangers should feel confident of returning to Glasgow next week with a result in tow.
