Team News

Borussia Dortmund
Chelsea
  • Mateu Morey is doutbful to be back in time for this fixture as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.
  • Youssoufa Moukoko looks unlikely after picking up a knock against Werder Bremen at the weekend.
  • Chelsea still have a number of first team players out for this match through injuries.
  • Wesley Fofana remains doubtful despite returning to full training.
  • Benoit Badiashile was not registered for Chelsea and so will be unable to take part in any of Chelsea's Champions League fixtures for the rest of the season

Prediction

  • This is the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides.
  • Borussia Dortmund have won 100% of their games in 2023 across all competitions, and have scored 17 goals in that time. They were only beaten once in the group stages of the Champions League, on the road at Man City, where they lost 2-1 thanks to goals from John Stones and Erling Haaland.
  • Chelsea currently sit ninth in the Premier League and have only won once since the turn of the year. In the Champions League though, they have won four, drawn one and lost one in the current campaign. Like Dortmund, Chelsea scored 10 times in the group stages averaging 1.6 goals per game.
  • Chelsea are still trying to work out their strongest XI after an influx of January signings and Dortmund are in good form of late but this game is likely to be a tight affair and end in a draw.

  • Potter out immediately

  • Great game! Lots of chances for Chelsea that didn't get put away. Watching Felix and Mudryk is extremely entertaining. I have never been hugely impressed with Havertz and once they find a true 9 I think we will see their results turn around

  • @Eights they are vulnerable to the counter attack and everyone knows it, still Kobel was unreal and they were unlucky to not come away with a draw. I think they'll do better in the 2nd leg.

  • I like the energy and guile Felix gives the team but the finishing not there today. Only mention it because apparently he tried 9 crosses and missed all of them, which is kinda funny on top of the 3 goals he missed. This team will be much better in a month or two, right now they're still a collection of individuals rather than a proper team.

  • Kobel deserved MotM!

  • Chelsea is terrible at finishing.

  • Mudryk should have played in the Scottish Premier League first, it is too big a step in class at once. Fernandez is not good at acting as the central defender seems too.

  • @koziol.mutant The flashes he showed today were incredible though, his ceiling is ridiculously high. Next season he will truly shine I think

  • @Eights Nothing is out of the question, but so far he is a flop (barring playing against a semi-fit Milner in Liverpool). Still Chelsea need to play more as a team and this would take this season at least.

  • Interesting. Dortmund and Chelsea have never played each other before.

  • Over/Under 9 corners?

  • Dortmund are great odds against a very poor Chelsea side at home.

  • @Marbella Great win for Dortmund at great odds.

  • Areal duels and dribles is the Best choise

  • Dortmund Win

  • Reece James makes a huge difference in this squad. I think there is value in Chelsea maybe as a PK +115, I've seen Dortmund ship goals at home and although they've won all their games since the break I think this is a step up in competition vs what they've been facing. Draw is in play. Leaning towards the upset.

  • Kobel really crushed me today on all platforms, still profited off Benfica and City and went 2-0 yesterday in UCL, tomorrow will be fun a lot of value on the board will have some risky plays.

  • @FootyFiyah maybe Dortmund or draw

  • @Magosi nice call.

  • @FootyFiyah draw?

  • @FootyFiyah so you mean This will be drawn?

  • @Sahandsaberiyoun good chance of it mate

  • 2-1

  • 2-1 Dortmund in form and usually strong at home. Chelsea mediocre atm and Potter probably a huge downgrade in cup competitions and tactics

  • No Badiashile, who gonna mark Haller height?

  • @xxl92 I was concerned about Koulibaly as well but he proved me wrong! Probably his best game of the year, and almost had a goal to boot!

  • 1-1

  • @whoscored guys, Madueke is not registered for the CL

  • Dortmund straight win✅ (+Dortmund 1st half ov. 0.5▶️) (+Dortmund 1st half win/draw✅) (+Dortmund 2:1, 2:0▶️) (+Dortmund to score ov. 1.5 goals✅)

  • @DevanteCesar ❤❤
