Team News

Almere City FC
Ajax
  • Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp, Theo Barbet, and Àlex Carbonell are the only players currently sidelined for Almere City as they prepare to host Eredivisie leaders Ajax on Sunday afternoon.
  • Anas Tahiri is expected to start in place of the injured Ritmeester van de Kamp. Additionally, Adi Nalic and Emanuel Poku are options for inclusion in Jeroen Rijsdijk's starting lineup, as both players came off the bench during last weekend's narrow loss to Feyenoord.
  • Junior Kadile returns from suspension and is expected to resume his role on the left flank, meaning Ruben Providence will drop back to the bench.
  • Ajax will be missing at least nine players this weekend. Both of their first-choice goalkeepers, Remko Pasveer and Jay Gorter, are unavailable, which means that January transfer window recruit Matheus will be making his second consecutive start.
  • With Josip Šutalo also absent, either Ahmetcan Kaplan or Daniele Rugani will partner Youri Baas in central defence.
  • There shouldn't be many changes to Francesco Farioli's starting lineup from last weekend, although Jordan Henderson, Kian Fitz-Jim, Oliver Edvardsen—who scored off the bench against his former team, Go Ahead Eagles—and Steven Berghuis are all pushing for starting positions.

Prediction

  • Ajax's next challenge in their quest to become Eredivisie champions will take place on Sunday at Yanmar Stadion, where they will face Almere City, who currently sit in the relegation zone.
  • Ajax secured a 2-0 victory against Go Ahead Eagles in their last Eredivisie match, marking their eighth consecutive win and leaving them five points clear of PSV at the top of the table. In contrast, Almere City is at the bottom of the standings with just 14 points, 10 points adrift of safety, with 11 matches remaining. Almere suffered a 2-1 defeat in their last match at Stadion Feijenoord against Feyenoord.
  • When these two teams last faced each other in Eredivisie play, Ajax triumphed with a 3-0 victory at Johan Cruijff ArenA in December. Wout Weghorst opened the scoring for Ajax in the 12th minute, followed by goals from Kenneth Taylor and Kian Fitz-Jim.
  • For Ajax, Oliver Edvardsen has been their most effective striker, scoring 10 goals this season, which places him tied for fourth in the league's scoring charts for the 2024/2025 season. Almere City's key players, Junior Kadile, Kornelius Hansen, and Charles-Andreas Brym, have made important contributions this season. Kadile and Hansen are the team’s joint top scorers with two goals each, while Brym has contributed one goal.
  • At home, Almere will look to improve their poor record at Yanmar Stadion, having achieved only one draw, eight losses, and two wins in 11 Eredivisie matches this season. Meanwhile, Ajax has performed well away from home, with seven wins, two draws, and two losses. The Ajacieden are currently on a three-match away winning streak, with their last away game without a win happening in December 2024 against AZ.

  • Ajax Win Ez

  • Ajax win. That's just what they've been doing especially since the beginning of 2025. They don't play the most attractive style but they get the job done every single time. They are solid at the back and have enough attacking quality to score a goal or two and locking up win after win in the Eredivisie.
