Team News

Aberdeen
Rangers
  • Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin named just one change to the Dons team that clinched an emphatic 4-1 victory over Motherwell, before they snuck past Ross County by a sole goal on Saturday afternoon in the Highlands.
  • Ross Doohan continues to deputise for the injured Dimitar Mitov in goal. Club captain Graeme Shinnie continued in the Dons defence to accompany Mats Knoester, Alfie Dorrington and Alexander Jensen.
  • Leighton Clarkson accompanied Ante Palaversa in front of the back four. Topi Keskinen and Shayden Morris, who replaced Jeppe Okkels to net the winner, started on the flanks. Pape Gueye accompanied Kevin Nisbet in the Aberdeen attack.
  • Rangers interim boss Barry Ferguson named six changes to the Gers eleven after they lost 2-0 to Hibernian at Ibrox in their last Scottish Premiership match, before a goalless draw with La Liga outfit Athletic Club in their Europa League quarter-final first leg.
  • Liam Kelly made his European debut for the Gers in goal, replacing Jack Butland. The incoming Leon Balogun and Robin Propper who was sent off joined Dujon Sterling in the Gers' back three, replacing the suspended John Souttar and Jefte.
  • Ridvan Yilmaz came in to start at left wing-back, replacing Hamza Igamane, as James Tavernier kept his place at right wing-back. Connor Barron was replaced by Bailey Rice to partner Nico Raskin in midfield. The suspended Mohamed Diomande made way for Ianis Hagi to accompany Vaclav Cerny in support of Cyriel Dessers up front.

Prediction

  • Two of the Scottish Premiership's top four teams, heading into the weekend, meet at Pittodrie on Sunday as Aberdeen host Rangers at lunchtime.
  • Aberdeen have lost just one of their last 12 Scottish Premiership visits to Dingwall to play Ross County, winning eight and drawing three, after their sole goal success on Saturday. The Dons had won just one of their previous 12 away league matches, a 2-1 victory over Dundee at Dens Park in February, so they'll feel optimistic of a second victory over Rangers at Pittodrie this season.
  • For as much as Rangers are facing domestic deficiencies, their midweek match with Athletic Club in Glasgow showed what they can do on the continental stage. The Gers' defeat to Hibernian was their fifth consecutive loss at Ibrox in all competitions, the longest losing run in the club's entire history, so despite arresting that against Bilbao a change of scenery might not be the worst thing.
  • The Bilbao draw could've taken a lot out of Rangers in midweek, so Aberdeen will be hoping to take advantage of the Gers' potential fatigue and claim a second Scottish Premiership victory against them at Pittodrie this season.
