Team News

Sporting
Moreirense
  • Pote returned to action last time out and could feature from the outset here, which would be a major boost for the hosts.
  • Harder was sent off after the match against Santa Clara but will have to serve a ban here
  • Quenda featured from the bench last weekend but should reclaim his starting XI spot, relegating Maxi Araújo to the bench.
  • Alanzinho's return is great news for Moreirense as he's the visitors' key man in the final third. Expect him to start in the middle of the park here.
  • Maracás and Dinis Pinto are also back available after serving a match ban and should return to the starting XI after last weekend's poor defensive performance.
  • Yan Maranhão will likely lead the line as Guilherme Schettine serves a match ban after being sent off while off the pitch last weekend.

Prediction

  • Sporting were far from convincing last weekend but that didn't stop them from beating Santa Clara last weekend. Still, there were some worrying signs in terms of offensive fluidity that will have to be corrected if they are to maintain their lead at the top of the league.
  • Moreirense were unable to maintain their unbeaten run last weekend, and lost their first game under Bacci last weekend as they were beaten 2-0 at home to Rio Ave. The return of key players such as Alanzinho and Maracás could make up for some of the shortcomings from that game.
  • Despite regaining the lead in the league last weekend, Sporting have struggled to get their game together and it's expected that this one won't be easy for the lLions. Still, playing at home and with a better team, they can be expected to come away with all three points.
