Team News

PSG
Aston Villa
  • PSG have a major issue at the back as captain Marquinhos is suspended and needs replacing.
  • Compatriot Beraldo is likely to deputise alongside Willian Pacho, while Lucas Hernandez is another who may feature from the outset.
  • Lee Kang-In is PSG's only other absentee, though the South Korean was unlikely to have started in midweek.
  • Luis Enrique is unlikely to spring any major upsets, but Desire Doue is an option should he wish to rotate in midfield or attack.
  • Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia are both ineligible, yet neither would have started for Aston Villa in midweek anyway.
  • That's because Unai Emery returns to Paris with a nigh-on full strength squad, with Leon Bailey and Ross Barkley the only injury concerns for the Villa boss.
  • Marco Asensio may have to settle for a spot on the bench against his parent side, with Ollie Watkins expected to lead the charge in France.

Prediction

  • PSG will be keen to follow up Saturday's title success with a first leg advantage when they take on Aston Villa on Wednesday night. The Parisian powerhouse welcome their Premier League counterparts having lost only two of 21 home matches in all competitions this season, though both defeats did come in the Champions League.
  • This won't be a walk in the park for PSG, however, as they welcome a Villa side on a seven-game winning run following their 2-1 victory over Champions League chasing Nottingham Forest at the weekend. Unai Emery's side have won four on the spin on the road, but did lose on their last trip to France, falling to a 1-0 loss to Monaco back in January.
  • Emery will be keen to claim victory over his former employers but is likely to have to settle for defeat on Wednesday night.

  • I have had Barca/PSG Win double @ 1.85 Odds.

  • @Marbella Both favourites rarely win, primarily because modern football revolves around fear: fear of losing. This way they bring about the very thing they are fearing OR if not, most frequently they settle for a draw. Anything works for them, except for losing. Now THAT'S what I call a loser: someone who does not have the guts to take risks in order to score goals and show what he is made of! This fkn' coward attitude kills the betting game!

  • This will be PSG vs Dibu Martinez. Hopefully he as another outstanding game vs the French. It's hilarious how much they hate him. If this matchup goes to penalties at Aston Villa it would also be the tie-breaker for Martinez and Donnarumma for most penalty shootout wins.

  • Over 2.5 may be safe

  • PSG Win

  • @Marbella not guaranteed. Aston villa can astonish host
