Team News

Celtic
Hibernian
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named three enforced changes to the Celts side that smashed Dundee United at Tannadice 5-0 which saw them crowned champions, before a 1-1 derby draw against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.
  • Viljami Sinisalo continued between the sticks. The injured Alistair Johnston was replaced by Anthony Ralston at right-back. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liam Scales and Greg Taylor made up the rest of the Celts' backline.
  • The trio of Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Arne Engels started again in midfield. Jota and Nicolas Kühn were both out through injury, so James Forrest and Adam Idah joined Daizen Maeda in the Hoops' attack on derby day.
  • Hibernian manager David Gray named two changes to the Hibs team that saw their unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 defeat against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, before they bounced back with a 3-1 win against Dundee United.
  • Jordan Smith continued in goal, behind the unchanged trio of Jack Iredale, Rocky Bushiri and Warren O'Hora in the Hibs defence. Jordan Obita remained at left wing-back, with Chris Cadden continuing on the right-hand side.
  • Dylan Levitt and Nectarios Triantis were chosen as the midfield duo in the middle of the park. Junior Hoilett replaced Josh Campbell, to join Martin Boyle in support of lone striker Mykola Kukharevych as Kieron Bowie dropped onto the bench.

Prediction

  • First meets third at Parkhead, with 29 points separating champions Celtic and a Hibernian team that is aiming to finish as the 'best of the rest' in the Scottish Premiership.
  • Celtic avoided losing both away league visits to bitter rivals Rangers for the first time since the 2020/21 season, as their dead rubber derby ended in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox. The Hoops won't be overly bothered as only in 1915/16 (+93), 1935/36 (+82), 1967/68 (+92) and 2016/17 (+81) have they ever boasted a better goal difference upon completion of a season than their current +80, highlighting their domination.
  • Hibernian picked up back-to-back top flight victories over Dundee United for the first time since winning three in a row back in 2006, after a 3-1 victory over the Terrors at Easter Road. The Hibees are enjoying their longest run of victories at Easter Road in the Scottish Premiership (7) since 2018 and could take a huge leap towards third place if they came away with a victory this weekend.
  • Despite Hibs beating Celtic at Easter Road in February, the Hoops have had the better of the Hibees in both cup competitions and two league meetings this season so should record another victory on Saturday.
