Team News

Dundee United
St. Mirren
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named three changes to the Terrors team that was hammered at home 5-0 by Celtic, before a 3-1 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road on Saturday afternoon.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal, as Emmanuel Adegboyega was joined by Vicko Sevelj and Declan Gallagher - as opposed to Allan Campbell - with United shifting to a back three in Edinburgh. Ryan Strain and Will Ferry were named as wing-backs.
  • Ross Docherty and Craig Sibbald were chosen in midfield, accompanied by David Babunski at Glenn Middleton's expense. Jort van der Sande partnered Sam Dalby in attack, as Ruari Paton dropped onto the Terrors' bench at Easter Road.
  • St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson made one change to the Saints side that was held at home in a 2-2 draw against Rangers, before they nicked a sole goal success over Aberdeen in Paisley last time out.
  • Zach Hemming continued in goal behind an unchanged back three of Richard Taylor, Alex Gogic and Marcus Fraser. Declan John started at left wing-back, as Ryan Alebiosu remained at right wing-back.
  • Mark O'Hara and Killian Phillips were joined by Oisin Smyth, as opposed to Caolan Boyd-Munce, in midfield. Mikael Mandron, the weekend matchwinner, accompanied Jonah Ayunga in attack for the Buddies.

Prediction

  • Fifth-placed Dundee United host a St Mirren side in sixth in the Scottish Premiership this weekend, in a massive match for both teams' aspirations this season.
  • Dundee United had only lost one of their previous 14 away trips to Easter Road in Scotland's top tier (W5 D8) before their 3-1 defeat to the Hibees on Saturday afternoon in Edinburgh. The Terrors had won back-to-back away Scottish Premiership matches, last winning more in a row in August 2020 (4), but are aiming to get back to winning ways and consign St Mirren to sixth place.
  • The Buddies beat Aberdeen at the weekend, unbeaten in nine league matches against the Reds in Paisley since 2018, as Saints secured a third straight Scottish Premiership victory against the Dons for the first time since July 2011. However, the visitors haven't scored against United this season and have lost all three league meetings along with being eliminated from the League Cup.
  • Saints need a win to have any chance of leapfrogging United, but the Terrors have been terrific in beating the Buddies this season so will fancy doing so again this weekend at Tannadice.
