Team News

Tottenham
Fulham
  • Andrea Villas-Boas may have to think about rotating a few of his players after his side were taken to extra time in the Europa League at Inter in midweek.
  • He has Adebayor, Huddlestone and Lennon back to fitness, but Mousa Dembele sustained a head injury at San Siro and that could put him in doubt for this match.
  • However, Hugo Lloris returns in goal after sitting that game out, while Gareth Bale is back after missing out through suspension, so both with be fresh here.
  • Michael Dawson will return at the back in place of the increasingly error prone William Gallas.
  • Fulham will be rested and raring to go after more than 2 weeks since their last match.
  • Eyong Enoh might have had the chance to build up his fitness but he is unlikely to start even if he is ready.
  • Dimitar Berbatov returns to White Hart Lane, as does manager Martin Jol.

Prediction

  • Spurs could be tired after Thursday night exertions in the Europa League, and they have now had 4 games since Fulham last played. There are two elements to this; fatigue could set in, but also Spurs' players could be sharper than Fulham's as a result of games in quick succession.
  • With Gareth Bale back in the fold Spurs are capable of winning, and much of Fulham's gameplan will be on stopping the Welshman. However, in trying to do so in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane, Fulham focused too much energy on him and other players profited.
  • Fulham's season is already starting to wind down, and while they will want to take advantage of Spurs' busy schedule, with only 2 away wins all season, they are unlikely to upset the odds.
