Team News

Germany
Georgia
  • Joachim Low's side slipped to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Ireland in their last outing, which means they need at least a point against Georgia in their final group match to seal their progression to next summer's Euros.
  • Germany are likely to be without their captain Bastian Schweinsteiger through injury. They will definitely be without World Cup final hero Mario Gotze, with a groin injury.
  • IIkay Gundogan could continue in Schweinsteiger's absence, with Thomas Muller promoted to striker and Karim Bellarabi coming in for Gotze.
  • Georgia could go unchanged from the side that beat Gibraltor 4-0

Prediction

  • Germany have one foot in the door for next summer's tournament in France, but still need at least a point to guarentee their progression. Germany won the reverse fixture between the sides 2-0.
  • Last summer's World Cup winners could still fall into a third place play-off, however. An unlikley defeat at home to Georgia could leave them vulnerable should Ireland and Poland draw in their clash, with the head-to-head ruling working in Ireland's favour over the Germans.
  • Georgia have nothing to play for but will be quietly confident having won two of their last three matches, including a 1-0 win over Scotland. But this will surely be way beyond them, with Germany looking for a big response. The home side are also looking to preserve a run of 21 games that stretches back to 2007 that has seen them unbeaten at home in qualifiers.

  • Gundogan is class

  • Reus was horrible today, just like mid week or this month or since returning from freaking injury.

  • Ozil had ten key passes, incredible.

  • germany won fair and square.the best national team in the world.

  • 6.6 for Neuer and 7.5 for Revishvili? You must be kidding!

  • @BeautifulLoser- Wouldn't it make sense the keeper who has the most to do would receive a higher rating?

  • @BeautifulLoser 11 saves for Revishvili and 4 for Neuer, genius.

  • @MacGoreth And in the end, according to Whoscored's moronic rating system, Reus who missed three clear cut chances had a better performance than Neuer who denied three goals. These ratings are a joke.

  • @MacGoreth Who's the genius here? There was a considerable difference in the quality of those saves. Most of Revishvili's saves were ordinary. Three of Neuer's saves were extremely difficult and crucial to the result. With your reasoning amateur photographers snapshoting tons of pictures per day would deserve a higher rating than artists like Henri Cartier-Bresson or Annie Leibovitz because they deliver more quantity instead of quality.

  • @BeautifulLoser Sport is comparable to art? For real?

  • Özil one of the best players today ! But strange I have seen at least 4 or 5 dribbles of him in this game but in the stats it still says ZERO ...

  • @neumi17 He didn't win enough dribbles o_O

  • not that good play from us, but we deserved this HT result because our fantastic skilled goalkeeper..;)

  • Reus alone must have scored at least 3 goals so far ...

  • 8 ! shots on target by halftime !!

  • Should be 5-0 by now ...38th min

  • Despite having no players who can dribble and beat one or two men on the wings I think it's gonna end 3-0 or something like that.

  • 4-0 for Germany, Thomas Muller hattrick and one goal for Marco Reus ( Ozil 2 assists)

  • 5-0 2 Muller 2 Ozil Reus

  • Germany 2:1 Georgia is my score

  • Many vote for Germany to win. Wow. Just joking, little surprise.

  • Germany 4 - 0 Georgia
